About Elliott Franks Photography

Elliott Franks is an award-winning photographer of people.

He is a dynamic and highly creative individual with a talent for exploring new and exciting ways of communication, through photography, with an extraordinary ability to capture emotion and animation in his work. He is innovative, intuitive and can be quite unorthodox when it comes to experimenting with new ideas – he is often the source of a team’s creativity with a fertile and imaginative mind, with plenty of ways of looking at things. He is highly versatile and can turn his hand to practically any subject matter, however his eye for composition and capturing the moment lend his talent to photographing people in reportage situations.

He lives in London’s vibrant east end and his work takes him all over the UK and overseas,

In the early days of his career he specialised in shooting dark & moody black & white portraits of actors, and gained his ABIPP qualification. However these days Elliott is best known for his press photography, predominantly specialising in live music, arts and politics.

His work is often featured in the national and international press; Elliott also has a keen interest in current affairs and often undertakes commissions to photograph royal, political and topical events. He regularly works with charities, either as a photographer, a press consultant or a volunteer.

Elliott has participated in a number of photo-journalism courses including two workshops facilitated by Paul Delmar – the head of photo journalism at the University of Sheffield and at the Wimbledon School of Art. Elliott has also lectured in photojournalism at Channel 4 as part of a Media Trust workshop.

Elliott is an active member of both the National Union of Journalists and the British Press Photographers Association and works to encourage better opportunities and treatment of freelance press photographers within the industry.
